We believe health is a journey—what we want, need, and feel changes year-to-year, day-to-day, even moment-to-moment. We want our students to define health for themselves, to listen to and and honor their bodies, minds, and souls, and to cultivate a life that feels balanced and sustainable. We acknowledge that health and wellness looks different based on the various identities we hold including race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, and more. We are committed to ensuring that everyone has a chance to forge their own pathway to health.
Journey through 3 topics over 3 months!
This is a collaborative journey with the Office of Health Promotion, Women's Center, University Counseling Services, and Campus Recreation.
Participate in Journey to Wellness by selecting the current month's theme to engage with videos, podcasts, articles, activities, and a week of events to connect with others on their wellness journey. We believe caring for your mind, body, and soul is essential to holistic and balanced living, and benefits yourself and the BC community. Join us on the journey and share your experience with us to earn free giveaways and be entered for a variety of raffle prizes. #welltogether

- Commodification of Beauty: This presentation defines commodification, its history and process, and how you can identify it in your everyday life. Discussion is encouraged as we dive into how commodification of beauty can reinforce inequality and discrimination in the world around us and how we can fight against it.
- Wellness & Academics: Break away from the college ‘triangle of choices’ (pick two: sleep, good grades, or a social life) learn how different aspects of wellness can help improve your academic performance. Understand how to approach academics from a more holistic perspective and how wellness can help improve your GPA and make academic lessons more lasting and impactful.
- Self-Care for Black Women: Enter into a brave space with other Black women to discuss your own experiences attending a predominantly white institution and the challenges associated with it. Share ways that you actively take care of yourself and learn new ones to ensure your continued success and elevate your well-being.
- Design Your Nectar List: Shake up the ‘bucket list’! Instead of thinking of things you want to do before you die, learn to reflect with gratitude on the wonderful things that have happened so far in your life. The Nectar list can be anything from a traditional written list to a jar full of items that symbolize the moments you are grateful for. Find positivity in reflection and gratitude in the amazing experiences you have already collected!
- Set Sustainable Goals: Feeling anxious about 2021 New Year’s Resolutions? This session will help you set SMART, sustainable goals that will last throughout the year (and beyond!). Push past the typical view of a resolution and find a more meaningful way to inspire change and well-being in your life in the new year.
- The Future of Food: What are you curious about regarding the food system? How do your values around the environment align with your food choices? In what ways do you see health of our bodies intersecting with health of the planet? Let's take time to learn about our food, our planet and our health and how to eat in a warming world.
- BConnected: Every student has their own story and it may be difficult to be your authentic self in a college environment with a variety of pressures to perform and fit in. Through BConnected you'll have an opportunity to reflect on what it means to be authentic, how to cultivate true belonging in a time when it can be hard to connect or feel like you belong, and we’ll share practical ways you can practice authenticity through looking inwards, looking outwards, and looking upwards to explore our connection to ourselves, others, and the world around us.
