Welcome Class of 2024!

Our first Week of Welcome aims to connect you to some of the people, offices, and opportunities on campus and familiarize you with campus before you begin classes on Monday, August 31. We have planned a number of events for you, beginning on Thursday, August 27 in the evening. Additional activities include a University Welcome, small group reflection time, orientation group meetings, campus tours and a scavenger hunt.

Please note that due to COVID-19 all events are subject to change. For updates, please visit the Boston College Reopening webpage.

Weeks of Welcome Schedule

Welcome to Boston College!

We have an exciting few days (and weeks!) planned which are designed to assist your transition to college life and connect you with many of the opportunities, offices, and people on campus. We invite you to take advantage of as many of these activities as you can. Please note that some of the events are mandatory for all first-year students and require preregistration.

All incoming first year students are also asked to complete a series of mandatory online learning modules prior to arriving on campus. Additional details about these were sent out in July, and all modules are expected to be completed by the time students arrive on campus.

Please note, the WoW Schedule is subject to change and will be updated accordingly.

As part of your transition to Boston College you are required to take several  mandatory online video courses before Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

  • Mental Well-Being
  • AlcoholEdu
  • Sexual Assault Prevention
  • Diversity Edu

DiversityEdu
This online course seeks to promote diversity and inclusion by teaching students skills in addressing unconscious biases and stereotypical thinking. This module will provide the opportunity to think critically about your own perspective, as well as the perspective of others. DiversityEdu aims to create a foundation of shared ideas and language that will enhance further conversations around diversity, identity, and inclusion during your time at Boston College and beyond. In total it should take approximately one hour to complete. Your participation in the course will be recorded once you have passed the embedded quiz and completed the entire module.

Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates
This online interactive course provides information about the important issue of sexual violence.  It includes information about relationships and consent, as well as information on sexual assault and prevention. This is not an over-simplified, lecture, it is a thoughtful and educational program for adults committed to thinking about their life choices.

AlcoholEdu
Whether you drink or not, this course will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and help you to reflect on and consider college drinking related issues. Part I of the course takes about two hours to complete. 45 days after completing AlcoholEdu Part I you will receive an email to complete Part II, which takes about 15 minutes.

Mental Well-Being
This course equips students with essential skills and information to navigate the stressors and emotional challenges associated with college life. The 45-minute module helps learners practice self-care strategies, recognize when they or their peers are in distress, and take action to find additional support.

For questions or additional information related to these requirements contact welcomeweek@bc.edu.
